Absentee Voting in Chicago

What a day!

Today, TurboVote announces our 25th university partnership. We are pleased to welcome Centre College to our TurboVote family. Welcome aboard!

Things have really been hectic since we appeared in the Chronicle of Higher Education last week, and new partnerships keep rolling in. They say it takes just as much effort to get the next 50 as it did to get the first 25, and we can’t wait to pass that mile marker.

Our first 25 schools include Miami Dade College, Harvard University, and the University of Akron. We’ve seen the University of North Carolina at Charlotte register hundreds of students in the week before the April primary with a single university-wide email, and watched the University of Florida register several dozen students each week – during the summer vacation – via a link on the student intranet.

“It’s good to see students develop the habit of voting because you need an informed and engaged public to have a healthy democracy,” said Alberto Ibargüen, president and CEO of the Knight Foundation. “We are particularly interested in what TurboVote will do in the four years between presidential elections, where much of democracy happens on the local level. By reminding people to vote, services such as TurboVote can help citizens engage more routinely in public life.”

We’d like to give a big TurboHug to our pioneering college partners already helping us make voting easier. Thanks to you all, it will be that much easier to sign up the next 25. To all those new partners out there, we can’t wait to meet you!
