Three weeks ago, the Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation officially announced their support for TurboVote. Their funding is spaced over three years, making it both critical to our success this year and sending a powerful signal that TurboVote is here to stay.

Meanwhile, our operations team has been hard at work improving the TurboVote service. Our mobile version is live (reading this on your phone? Try it at turbovote.org!) and TurboVote is now available in Spanish. We also caught up with old friends at the Sunlight Foundation and released our first tools for developers (APIs) at their Transparency Camp last month.

Funding and technology don’t add up to much, however, unless we have people who want to use the service. That’s why I’m so excited about the ever-growing list of colleges and nonprofits who have signed on to provide TurboVote to their communities. Since my last update, the University of Florida, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, the University of Michigan-Dearborn, Florida Memorial University, Saint Anselm College, the National Association of Community Health Centers, SAVE Dade, Catalyst Miami, the Florida New Majority Education Fund and HispanicVote.com have all signed on as TurboVote partners.

If our partners are successful in their outreach efforts—and we’re confident they will be—over 1 million Americans will use TurboVote this year.

Finally, we’ve continued building the team we need to execute on our ever-expanding ambitions for impact in 2012. Paul Kominers will be moving to Brooklyn the day after graduating from MIT to take the lead on our data research efforts. We’ll also be welcoming nine summer interns, who will help us engage more partners.
